‘Super 8′ Reviews, Weiner-Gate Scandal And Olivia Wilde’s Not-So-Sexy Naked Traffic Show

Olivia WildeSuper 8” is finally in theaters, and if you’ve been following along with the MTV Movies Blog gang, you know we loved it. We’re not the only ones; several celebs in the Twitter-Wood sphere have already expressed their enthusiasm, and more positive reviews came storming in today.

There’s also an outpouring of support for “Lost” creator Damon Lindelof’s new multimedia science fiction project for Disney, “1952,” though Lindelof himself wants to clarify exactly what that “seven figure deal” entails. Plus, Weiner-gate ridicule continues, Olivia Wilde strips down (sort of) and Jonah Hill squares off against Kanye West in an epic battle of Connect Four.

I’m @roundhoward and this is Twitter-Wood for June 10, 2011.

“Super 8″ Reviews, Part 1: @edgarwright By the end of the year, I would like to see a double bill of ‘Super 8′ and ‘Attack The Block’. (*cough* @newbeverly)
-Edgar Wright, director (“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”)

“Super 8″ Reviews, Part 2: @CarltonCuse Saw the premiere of Super 8 last night. The movie was really great — an action movie with heart and emotion — a rarity these days.
-Carlton Cuse, writer (“Lost”)

Seven Figure Deals, Part 1: @DamonLindelof The seven figures are: Jawa (vinyl-caped), Han in Hoth gear, Bossk, Lobot, Greedo, Admiral Ackbar and Obi-Wan (with telescoping saber).
-Damon Lindelof, writer (“1952″)

Seven Figure Deals, Part 2: @BryanFuller @DamonLindelof These seven figures? yfrog.com/5pd03lwj
-Bryan Fuller, writer (“Pushing Daisies”)

Weiner-Gate, Part 1: @denisleary Weiner says his wife wants him to stay in office. Like literally – stay at the office. Don’t come home and def don’t f—ing text me.
-Denis Leary, actor (“Rescue Me”)

Weiner-Gate, Part 2: @BretEastonEllis If Anthony Weiner doesn’t resign (and he absolutely shouldn’t) this will be a major historical triumph in the post-Empire world…
-Bret Easton Ellis, novelist (“American Psycho”)

Wilde Driving: @oliviawilde I change in my car as entertainment for my fellow traffic prisoners. Not that it’s sexy. I just strangled myself with a bra strap. Spaz.
-Olivia Wilde, actor (“Tron Legacy”)

Connect Four: @JonahHill A video from two or three years ago of me VS @kanyewest at an uncomfortable match of Connect 4. I want a rematch: tinyurl.com/37jwrqu
-Jonah Hill, actor (“21 Jump Street”)

Twitter Says You Have To Be Team Harry Potter, Team Twilight Or Team Narnia, But Why Choose?

What ever happened to young fiction fans getting along? According to Twitter trends today, you are either #TeamTwilight, #TeamNarnia or #TeamHarryPotter. But what if we’re all three?

In our opinion, each series definitely has their merits. With “Harry Potter” you have a great story about coming of age and having to conquer the unconquerable obstacles in your path, while in “Twilight” you have love in its purest form and in “Narnia” you have a tale of family that sticks together through thick and thin to do the best for the world around them. Can’t we just love them all?!

There are plenty of reasons each of them could count as our favorites, and after the jump we detail why we feel that way. Then YOU can duke it out in the comments section and on Twitter!

#TeamHarryPotter
It’s not just that “Harry Potter” is a great story, because it is, it’s that we got to grow up with Harry and his friends. That’s an experience unique to the “Potter” franchise for many young readers, and what endears the saga to our hearts. Plus, it really is just a great story.

#TeamTwilight
Edward and Bella, obviously. Okay, and Jacob for all you #TeamJacob kids out there. But really, what’s at the heart of this series is the love and romance that bubbles up through the pages and seeps into our pores, making us wish that we all had someone to dazzle us, vampire or not.

#TeamNarnia
The fact that “The Chronicles of Narnia” has managed to remain such a prevalent force in our pop culture over the past six decades should be a testament to just how amazing this series is. The Pevensie children and their adventures in the magical and metaphorical world of Narnia have us so enraptured that we are still dying to have the next chapter of their saga hit the big screen.

#TeamGameOfThrones
Just you wait, my friends, because winter is coming and once it does, you won’t remember that any of these franchises even existed! Bwahahahahaha!

What team are you on and why? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Keith Olbermann, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ And ‘The Walking Dead’ In Today’s Twitter-Wood

Walking Dead“Call of Duty: Black Ops” got some help hyping itself from Metallica at Activision’s launch party last night, and at least one actor from “Mad Men” was there. Ice-T, meanwhile, is trying to figure out what he needs to do to swing an early copy of the game, so if you have pertinent information and don’t want to keep the game for yourself, you know where to tweet him.

In other happenings, Keith Olbermann made news instead of reporting it today by getting suspended indefinitely by MSNBC over political campaign contributions he was found to have made, not for the actions James Urbaniak mentioned. Check out what that was about down below along with Felicia Day‘s big concern about “The Walking Dead” and who someone thought Ludacris looked like at an airport.

‘Duke Nukem Forever,’ A ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Push And ‘Machete’ In Today’s Twitter-Wood

Wil Wheaton summed up the reactions of gamers everywhere today when 2K Games revealed at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle that a playable version of the epically delayed game “Duke Nukem Forever” would be playable for the show.

Others in Twitter-Wood were more concerned with movies, which is appropriate since that’s where they make their money. Kristen Bell has been prodding at her followers to tell Warner Bros. they want to see a “Veronica Mars” movie, Ashton Kutcher checked out the “Family Guy” take on “Return of the Jedi,” and Rainn Wilson discussed a remake of “The Rocker.” Check out what he’d like to do with that down below and see who’s going to a midnight screening of “Machete.”

Glenn Beck, 50 Cent For President And ‘Catfish’ In Today’s Twitter-Wood

The worlds of “Eclipse” and Motörhead may have seemed mutually inclusive to you before today, but photo post from actor BooBoo Stewart today proved that that divide can be crossed. I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for a Lemmy Kilmister cameo in “Breaking Dawn,” though.

In other Twitter-Wood action, Stephen Colbert pondered what appropriate attire would be for the Glenn Beck rally in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. 50 Cent pondered some political aspirations as well, inspired by Wyclef Jean. You can read about those below, along with Brett Ratner‘s endorsement of the movie “Catfish” and Dax Shepard‘s excitement about “Jersey Shore.”

Horror aficionado Eli Roth applied his knowledge to the Mel Gibson situation this week, and made a diagnosis, as well as a treatment recommendation. James Urbaniak was also captivated by the situation, but had more questions than answers.

In other discussion topics, “The Hills” watchers came out of the woodwork to sound off about the show’s conclusion. You can find out were Denise Richards and Frankie Muniz stand on that topic below.
