‘Cosmopolis’ Is Due In Theaters This Summer

Cosmopolis

We’ve been hyped for “Cosmopolis” ever since it was first announced, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the announcement of a release date. The film was recently screened and picked up at Cannes to be released in the United States.

eOne plans to distribute the flick to the United States starting on August 17. To be honest, this doesn’t exactly seem like an end of summer movie, but the sooner we get to see “Cosmopolis” the better. The movie will initially open only in Los Angeles and New York, but will expand to other cities soon after.

The trailers and clips released of the movie show a Pattinson that we’ve never seen before, and seems distinctly David Croenenberg. But the Cannes reviews of the film have been generally positive, which leads us to believe that this project will be well-received even if it doesn’t appeal to everyone.

“Cosmopolis” will be released in Canada today and in the UK next week. Another one of Robert Pattinson‘s non-”Twilight” films hit theaters today. We’ve been waiting to see “Bel Ami” for ages, so at least we only have to wait two more months for “Cosmopolis.”

Are you excited “Cosmopolis” finally has a US release date? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ Will Be PG-13 (Update)

UPDATE: Yesterday we reported on comments Robert Pattinson made to Entertainment Weekly insinuating that the stuff they’ve shot for ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ has been so risque, it’s going to be hard to give the film a PG-13 rating. Since then, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirmed to Thompson on Hollywood that both films will, in fact, be rated PG-13 no matter what. How much they’ll show and what they’ll cut out is still left to be determined. See our original post from yesterday below.

—–

The ‘Twilight’ circus is coming to an end. Over the last few years, we’ve seen a lot. It started with a pale, lip-biting girl heading to rainsville and falling for a rude dude who’s actually a vampire trying to quell his inner bloodlust. But then he went away for her protection and she got mixed up with a bunch of overly emotional werewolves who hate shirts … until the bloodsucking beau came back and everything seemed peachy. Unfortunately, a vampire scorned decided to muck up the poor pale girl’s graduation plans as she tried to get her chaste boyfriend to have sex. Now, with the red menace behind them, one would assume that Bella and Edward could live happily ever after.

‘MTV First: Robert Pattinson’: Five Memorable Moments!

Robert Pattinson never makes it easy for us.

All this week, in preparation for ‘MTV First: Robert Pattinson‘ — the 30-minute live chat with the superstar, which aired tonight — we counted down our all-time favorite RPattz MTV moments. Turns out when it’s someone like Rob, who practically churns out memorable moments and quotes at every turn, it’s not that easy to do.

Now, once again we are faced with the dilemma of picking which parts of our evening with Rob we liked the best. After much deliberation, and OK, multiple viewings, we finally came up with our picks for the five most memorable moments. Check them out after the jump!

The Elephant Man
Not since Bart Simpson met Stampy has there been a connection between a lad and a pachyderm quite like Robert Pattinson and Tai, the elephant featured in, well, “Water for Elephants.” Turns out, if it hadn’t been for Tai, Rob may not have been in the movie at all, as he admitted the hulking beast was a huge determining factor for the actor taking the role. During the interview, Rob talked about how intimidated he was by Tai’s, um, acting career? “She’s done way more movies than I have,” he admitted. It seems Tai, who was featured in the 2010 Oscar-nominated documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” made some of the other, er, actors nervous on set. “The [other] elephants are a little intimidated by her,” Rob said. “She’s very famous in the elephant community.” But Tai clearly had no qualms about being around famous folks like Rob and Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon. As Rob recalled, one day on set Tai let loose the “most incredible fart into Reese’s face…Like a hurricane. Thunderous.”

Feeling Green On The Red Carpet
While Rob tends to go dateless on red carpets, we learned there is one thing he often brings with him to a film premiere: a buzz! The actor recalled not one — but two — incidents in which he showed up rather sauced to a movie premiere. Still a relative unknown (yes, there was a time) at the premiere of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire“, Robert, who described himself as “kind of unemployable at that point,” walked down Hollywood Boulevard feeling “hungover and bloated,” not to mention “so confused and so hot.” In short, as he so delicately put it, he looked “like someone just found a homeless person.” Still, that didn’t stop him from getting in some libations before the premiere of “Twilight.” But, between wearing a “tiny suit” and having “a few drinks,” the oh-so-self-deprecating star thought he looked like “an old alcoholic.”

Talk Jersey To Me
Being the ever-evolving Renaissance Man that is he is (he recently picked up the cello just because and re-learned the piano in mere minutes), Rob also learned some Polish for “Water for Elephants.” But as it turned out, it inadvertently sounded a little dirty. “I only know five words in Polish, which were the elephant commands, which were kneel, open your mouth, smile and pray,” he said. We can only hope, though, his Polish is better than — as host Josh Horowitz put it — his “American speak.” After giving a spirited, albeit slightly-crazed sounding American “Well!,” Rob discussed which U.S. dialects he likes the best. The answer? Christopher Walken and New Jersey! The star said he simply couldn’t break out of his Walken impression while filming a scene with Peter Facinelli on the “Breaking Dawn” set. Still, it’s a New Jersey accent he finds the most fun. In addition to feeling “cool” while doing it, he said he’ll occasionally slip into a Jersey accent by accident. Snooki would be proud.

Hey, Ladies!
In case there were any curiosity about what type Mr. Pattinson is into, he made it very clear: “I like hot girls!” When asked what draws him to projects that feature leading ladies like Kristen Stewart, Uma Thurman, and Witherspoon, he put it, quite simply: “I like being in movies with hot girls.” But that wasn’t the only common thread he found connecting all those women. “They’re all very strong actually,” he said, noting they were all “experienced…and passionate people. They’re not just flimsy floozies!”

Getting Thirsty For More ‘Water for Elephants’
In addition to the funny and candid chat, Rob had also premiered an exclusive clip of “Water for Elephants”. It’s a project that’s had cinema — and literature — buffs buzzing for quite some time, thanks to everything from its sprawling circus sets to its impressive cast (which also includes Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz). In a short clip, Jacob (Rob) and Marlene (Reese) are fleeing from her husband (Christoph). Aboard a train, the two star-crossed lovers must make a choice to leave together (“He’ll find me,” she frets, to which he assures her, “You think there’s nothing out there for you, but there is. You just can’t see it”), and in a small, yet powerful gesture, Jacob takes her hand. “Titanic” was often cited throughout the chat and after seeing the clip, we’re now certain another classic love story is about to sweep us off our feet.

What was your favorite moment from ‘MTV First: Robert Pattinson’?

‘Water For Elephants’ Clip Sees Robert Pattinson And Reese Witherspoon Running For Their Lives

Robert Pattinson is switching to Team Jacob, but it’s not because he’s turning his back on his “Twilight” loyalties — in that neck of the woods, he’s firmly and permanently on Edward’s side of the aisle — but rather because he’s assuming an all-new identity as Jacob Janowski in “Water for Elephants,” arriving in theaters on April 22.

Rob appeared on MTV and MTV.com tonight for “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a 30-minute interview between MTV’s Josh Horowitz and the “Twilight” hunk where he fielded questions from his fans and premiered an exclusive new clip from “Water for Elephants.” But if you missed the show, no worries — we’ve got that clip right here!

In this exclusive scene from “Water for Elephants,” Jacob Janowski (Pattinson) is rushed through a speeding train by the beautiful Marlena Rosenbluth (played by the equally stunning Reese Witherspoon), who is doing her best to get Jacob out of the train and off to safety. What he’s running from isn’t clear; what is clear, however, is that Jacob doesn’t want to leave without Marlena by his side.

“You think there’s nothing out there for you, but there is,” he tells her. “You just can’t see it.”

Jacob’s words move Marlena into action; although she’s initially resistant, she slips her hand into his as the two brace themselves to jump off the train. But before we can see the final outcome, the clip is over — guess we’ll have to wait until April to see if Rob’s charms are as successful with Marlena as they are with Bella Swan!

Robert Pattinson Lets Some Saucy Language Slip In Our #1 RPattz Moment

All this week we’ve been counting down our favorite RPattz moments in preparation for “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a 30-minute chat in which the actor will take questions from our own Josh Horowitz and fans like you, in addition to debuting an exclusive new clip from his latest movie “Water for Elephants.”

It’s not easy to narrow all of Robert’s memorable moments down to just five — so far we’ve reminisced about his very first interview with MTV, that awkward/sexy near-kiss with Kristen Stewart at the MTV Movie Awards, his first trip to the Academy Awards and his thoughts on “Twilight” brand glitter lube — but our #1 choice was a no-brainer.

Now, we here at MTV get a lot of interesting responses from celebrities during interviews. Sometimes it’s a detailed account about their latest venture, other times it’s an out-of-left field anecdote that sets the conversation on a very different course. Then there are the times when Robert Pattinson describes something as “bullsh–.”

MTV once again found Rob on the red carpet, this time at the Los Angeles premiere for “Eclipse” in June 2010, and, as per usual, the star was surrounded by throngs of screaming, shrieking die hard fans. Rumors had been swirling that Rob, with both parts of “Breaking Dawn” still ahead of him, was looking forward to putting the “Twilight” series behind him.

But Rob was quick to squash those rumors as soon as we brought them up — and squash them he did with some inadvertantly saucy language!

“That was such bullsh–. I am so pissed off!” he said with mock anger. Then, in an attempt to save face from his verbal slip-up he cried, “Oh sh–!”

See what we mean? Picking any other Rob Pattinson moment would have been total B.S.!

Watch “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” on MTV and MTV.com TONIGHT at 8:56 PM EST!

Tell us what you think of our fifth — and final — Pattinson moment in the comments section and on Twitter, and don’t forget to tune into the show tonight!

Robert Pattinson Wanted for ‘Daredevil’ Reboot

Back in 2003, Ben Affleck donned some red tights and became Matt Murdock – better known to comic fans as ‘Daredevil.’ Comic movies weren’t quite as popular as they are now, but ‘Daredevil’ did respectable business at the box office, breaking the 100 million dollar mark. Stories about “The Man Without Fear” might have turned into a feature film franchise if Fox hadn’t tried to create a spin-off series with ‘Elektra.’ That film didn’t come close to the 100 mil mark – it lost money – and more importantly, its ties to ‘Daredevil’ basically killed the idea of doing a sequel.

That was practically 5 years ago, and in Hollywood time passes in something approximating dog years. With superhero flicks still doing healthy business at the box office, Fox has decided it’s time to bring ‘Daredevil’ back into the fold. The only problem is Ben Affleck has no desire to return to the role. No problem – they can just reboot it!

Director David Slade, who’s helmed the vampire film ’30 Days of Night’ and teen vampire romance ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ was hired to bring the saga of Matt Murdock to life for a new generation. That’s immediately inspired speculation that ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson may don Daredevil’s skintight red suit. Cue fanboy howling now.
