1. Pantech Announce Powerful Vega Racer Android Phone

Pantech have yet to spread out into Europe, but we hope they’ll consider doing so with the Vega Racer. The Android Gingerbread phone has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, an 8 megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel video call lens, but the real standout features are the overclocked Snapdragon processor running at 1.5Ghz, and an Adreno 22 GPU too! So far, it’s only Korea who will get to try out the Vega Racer. Pah.

2. Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 Delayed

3. Microsoft Close Pioneer Studios

Pioneer Studios was Microsoft’s skunkworks division, where clever Microsoft folk would develop designs and concepts which would hopefully become future, consumer-orientated devices. The team were responsible for parts of Windows Phone 7, the Kin phones, Zune and even the Courier tablet concept. Microsoft has recently closed the Seattle-based offices, with the 120 staff either leaving the company or joining other Microsoft divisions.

4. Initial US PlayBook Sales Revealed

An analyst has published his estimates for the amount of PlayBook tablets RIM has sold over the first month, putting the figure at 250,000. He adds that this figure should double by the end of Q2. This week, the PlayBook has been given a UK release date of the 16 June.

5.  Nokia’s Market Share Continues to Drop

More bad news for Nokia this week, as their market share has dropped to 25%, a figure it last saw back in 1997. Although Nokia are still at the top of the chart, analysts are predicting arch-enemy Samsung will steal the top spot as early as next month.

6. Sanyo Innuendo Tries to Make Fold Phones Cool Again

This folding flip-style phone is set to debut on US network Boost, but it’s still worth taking a look at thanks to its now-unusual form factor. With the phone closed it has a touch sensitive keypad, but opening the phone reveals a QWERTY keyboard! The CDMA device has a 3.2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth, but the OS is unknown.

7. Angry Birds Mobile Cases for Nokia Phones

You can already buy Angry Birds mobile phone cases for the iPhone, but now an official line has been added to cater for the Nokia N8, X7, C7 and E7 too. Featuring designs with the red bird, the black bird and the green pig, they’re a must have for Angry Birds fans!

8. AT&T Get the HTC HD7S

AT&T in the USA have announced the HD7S, a variation on the HD7 Windows Phone 7 device. The chassis is exactly the same as the standard phone, as is the 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and all the other stock features. However, HD7S comes with 16GB of internal storage over our 8GB and appears to use a 4.3-inch Super LCD screen instead of the standard LCD panel found in the European HD7. It’s expected to launch on the 5 June.

9. Verizon Get the HTC Trophy

Windows Phone 7 will finally hit the US’s CDMA Verizon network on the 26 May, when the HTC Trophy makes its debut. The phone will have the same 1GHz processor, 3.8-inch touchscreen and 5 megapixel camera as the GSM version we’re familiar with; but will boast a quad-band radio for ‘world’ use.

10. Say I Love You with an Android App!

By using App Inventor, a romantic Android fan designed and built his own marriage proposal app, disguised as a promotional Harry Potter quiz. He convinced his girlfriend to give the app a try, and having worked through four questions, the last was ‘will you marry me?’  he good news is that she said yes, and we hope the happy couple and their HTC Incredible phones live happily ever after!
