DAILIES: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV Series Details, New ‘Rock Of Ages’ Casting

Arnold SchwarzeneggerNow that Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to delve back into the wild world of Hollywood, speculation has risen as to what his first project will be.

The latest we heard was that it would be a television series, which is a bit surprising since he is such a major movie star. But now Deadline has the news that the mystery series might actually be animated. They speculate that comic book guru Stan Lee might even be a major collaborator. The plot thickens!

After the jump, find out which actress is headed to “Rock of Ages,” who will be directing Ben Mezrich‘s latest and which Wes Anderson regular is joining “Moonrise Kingdom.”

Amy Adams To Enchant “Rock Of Ages”
She already proved she’s got the vocal chops in “Enchanted,” and now Deadline has the scoop that Amy Adams is being courted for “Rock of Ages.” She will play a journalist who has a steamy affair with Tom Cruise‘s rock star boyfriend, Stacee Jax. Apparently the role was originally offered to Anne Hathaway, but she had to pass for “The Dark Knight Rises.” Turns out Paul Giamatti is also circling the project.

Will Gluck Is Ready For “Sex On The Moon”
It’s hard to follow in the footsteps of the latest Ben Mezrich adaptation, “The Social Network,” but “Easy A” director Will Gluck is going to be the man to try. The Los Angeles Times has the scoop that he has been tapped by Sony to handle their adaptation of Mezrich’s NASA drama, “Sex on the Moon.”

“Tree Of Life” Takes Root In Cannes
Finally, “Tree of Life” has a premiere date that is a bit sooner than the previously announced May 27. Variety reports that the flick will show at Cannes in April, though we won’t know which date until the official line-up is announced.

Jason Schwartzman Is Anderson-ed Again
It doesn’t seem like too much of a surprise that Jason Schwartzman is joining Wes Anderson in his latest movie, “Moonrise Kingdom,” but it’s good news all the same. In addition, the Providence Entertainment Examiner announced that Edward Norton and Frances McDormand have joined the project. Rounding out the previously announced cast are Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton and other Anderson-regular Bill Murray.

“Sucker Punch” Stars Love Looking Badass
The lovely leading ladies of “Sucker Punch” took the time to talk to MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog about the intricacies of the film’s many costume designs. “We had a lot to play with,” Jamie Chung explained, “with power and strength, but still being really vulnerable. It’s a wide range of different costumes that help put you in a different kind of mood.”

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift and Zac Efron are falling in love — but before you get too excited, it’s just for the movies!

Coming Soon has the news that the two musicians/actors are set to star in the upcoming Universal adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s “The Lorax.” Efron will play the film’s lead, a boy named Ted who is searching for the one thing that will allow him to win the girl of his dreams. Swift will play the girl, named Audrey. In addition to the two of them, Danny Devito will voice the titular Lorax, Ed Helms is the the Once-let, Rob Riggle is financial king O’Hare, and Betty White is Ted’s Grammy Norma. The flick is set for release on March 2, 2012.

After the jump, find out which two major actors have joined Keira Knightly in the adaptation of “Anna Karenina” and who will be playing Clark Kent’s father in Zack Snyder‘s “Man of Steel.”

Jude Law And Aaron Johnson To Join “Anna Karenina”
Keira Knightly is returning to work with director Joe Wright for a third time, and this time she’s bringing in some new meat. According to Variety, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson are nearing completion on their negotiations for major roles in the film, which should begin production in the fall.

Kevin Costner Joins “Man Of Steel”
Teaming up with the previously announced Momma Kent, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner has agreed to come on board as Superman’s adoptive father Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s adaptation of “Superman.” Costner joins Lane and Henry Cavill, who will be playing the titular man of steel.

Tripp Vinson Defends “Red Dawn”
In response to the recent news about “Red Dawn‘s” Chinese baddies being nixed for North Koreans, the film’s producer phoned up Ain’t It Cool News to explain their decision-making. “‘Red Dawn’ isn’t for everyone. So, if you are interested in seeing a movie filled with preachy political discussions – ‘Red Dawn’ ain’t for you. If you love movies in which Americans are the bad guys – ‘Red Dawn’ ain’t for you. If you get emotional watching daytime television – ‘Red Dawn’ ain’t for you. If you’re a vegetarian – ‘Red Dawn’ probably ain’t for you. But! If you like meat with your potatoes, muscle cars that roar, tanks, guns and things blowing the [f---] up by American’s kicking some Commie ass – then we have something special coming your way,” Vinson said.

Kevin Smith Shares How To “Hit Somebody”
Kevin Smith took a break from his tour of the country promoting “Red State” to post a scene from his next (and allegedly last) film, “Hit Somebody.” Posting it on his blog, the scene follows 11-year-old main character Buddy McCracken and his hockey coach Blue Jay Jennings, a role that was written for John Goodman.

Santa’s Back And He’s Badder Than Ever
There’s plenty of time before the holidays, but Christmas has come early for “Bad Santa” fans. The Wrap reports that Billy Bob Thornton is officially coming back for a sequel to the R-rated holiday comedy, and representatives from The Weinstein Company confirm the news: “Everyone loves the character and Billy Bob’s excited to be in talks with us.”

DAILIES: ‘Toy Story’ Short Attached To ‘The Muppets,’ Hailee Steinfeld Is ‘Forgotten’

If “Toy Story 3” left you with a lingering hope for the continuing adventures of Woody and Buzz, don’t worry — they’re coming.

We already knew about the Hawaii-centric short attached to “Cars 2,” and now comes word of another “Toy Story” tale that’ll play in front of “The Muppets,” arriving just in time for Christmas! There’s no word on the short’s story, but here’s hoping that it involves a return trip to Sunnyside.

That’s not all the news that’s fit to print — head past the jump for “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld’s new gig, a new clip from “Source Code” and more!

Forget True Grit
Oscar contender and “True Grit” breakout star Hailee Steinfeld won’t be going away anytime soon, thankfully. The erstwhile Mattie Ross is staying in the Paramount family with “Forgotten,” a new film based on the upcoming Cat Patrick novel. Steinfeld stars as London Lane, a 16-year-old girl who loses her memory every night, only to wake up the next morning with visions of the future.

Cracking The Code
IGN has a new clip from “Source Code,” the Duncan Jones-directed thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a military man forced to live through a train bombing over and over again until he foils the terrorists’ plot. In the clip, Gyllenhaal’s character finds out what’s at stake if he fails in his mission.

Great Hope At The Office
Meryl Streep recently settled on a deal to star in “Great Hope Springs,” David Frankel’s drama about a loveless marriage on the verge of collapse after over 30 years. Now, Steve Carell is on board as well, signing on to play a marriage therapist who attempts to salvage the pair’s relationship.

The Clock Ticks Again
Looks like Kiefer Sutherland is heading back to the small screen, but those of you hoping for a “24” revival can put those dreams to bed: although the project is set up at Fox, Sutherland would be moving on from Jack Bauer for a leading role in “Touch,” a new drama from “Heroes” creator Tim Kring about an autistic boy who can predict events before they happen. Sutherland would play the boy’s father.

“50/50″ Release Date
The dramedy formerly known as “I’m With Cancer” has a new title and a release date: it’s called “50/50″ and it’s out on September 30, 2011. The Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt-starring film focuses on a young man’s struggle with cancer, and despite the intense subject matter, Rogen and JGL’s involvement virtually guarantees some laughs.
