Panasonic announces GF2 DSLR with 1080p video

Panasonic has today announced the company’s latest camera, and the successor to the widely revered GF1. The 12-mega pixel Lumix DMC-GF2 is the company’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera yet, and packs some impressive new features to boot.

On the face of it, the new camera offers some impressive improvements over its predecessor. The GF2 bumps its maximum ISO to 6400 and it can record full HD movies with 1920 x 1080 recording in AVCHD, plus on-board stereo microphones. The new touchscreen purports to make photography more accessible too, with iPhone-style focus at a touch, and an automatic switch to portrait mode if a human face is tapped.
